Advances in XML technology for bibliographic data

BookMARC supports TVS Model for XML usage

The theory behind this model is explained in a paper presented to the next IFLA conference in Glasgow, August 2002 (see http://www.ifla.org/IV/ifla68/prog02.htm):

XML and bibliographic data: the TVS (Transport, Validation and Services) model, JOAQUIM DE CARVALHO (BookMARC/University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal) and MARIA INÊS CORDEIRO (Art Library, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon, Portugal) available at http://www.ifla.org/IV/ifla68/papers/075-095e.pdf.

The key point in this approach is that by specifying requirements for XML usage at these three levels, in an articulated but distinct way, a much needed clarification about the role of XML in bibliographic systems can be achieved.
